 The Lady Warrior golfers wrapped up their season this past Saturday at the Oconomowoc Invitational. The girls played a good round of golf, with leading scores of 103 by senior Adriana Kooiman, a 105 by senior Anna Baxter, and a 116 by junior Alyssa Allister. Gearing up for regionals and sectionals, the girls have also put in a lot of work this week preparing for the competition. The regional invitational took place this past Thursday, followed by sectionals on October 2, 3, 9, and 10.
“The competition is really tough this week. We are all competing for the varsity spots for regionals, and it really changes how we play our game during these last few weeks,” comments senior Anna Baxter.
The girls came off of last week with a fairly good game at Portage on Thursday. Both JV and Varsity competed against Portage on the Thursday match. Leading scorers of the day were Anna Baxter with a 49, Jennifer Beth with a 58, Taylor Krentz with a 59, and both Emily Erdman and Adriana Kooiman shot a 61.
“The match had a rocky start, with some not-so-good tee-offs, but we recovered quickly and brought back our scores throughout the afternoon,” explained Baxter.
The Saturday Invitational at Oconomowoc went well. The girls shot well, and had fun while playing. The weather cooperated also, making for a good day overall for the Lady Warriors.
The pressure is on as the girls brace themselves for regionals and sectionals. “We need to get our minds focused on what we need to do. This isn’t just going to be an ordinary round of golf, this is regionals,” comments senior Taylor Krentz
