I went Homecoming dress shopping this weekend with my mom over at East Towne. I bet I tried on at least 40 dresses before I went to JC Penny’s. There I picked out three of the most beautiful dresses I had seen the whole day. One was pink and had kind of a Japanese look to it. Another was blue with sparkles, and the last was a plain red one with a puffed-out bottom.
I tried on the pink one first in a size three to four. After my mom zipped it up, I found that it was way too small. I said I liked the look but would need a bigger size. She agreed and began to zip it down. However, when it got to about an inch from the top it got caught. My mom zipped it back up and tried three more times. On the third time, the zipper broke off! So my mom went to go get the manager, who tried unsuccessfully and went to get other managers. Others came and tried to unzip it, but none succeeded until a lady with big arms ripped the dress right off me. I immediately thought, “you break, you buy it,” which would have been bad because I was trying it on for fun; it was too much money. I asked the lady if I’d have to pay, but she said it was a bad zipper and that we were OK.
Well, we went along trying on other dresses, but this time in a five to six and with extra care. I finally tried on the red dress I loved. We went out and checked the price. It was $130, but it was on sale for $89.99. But, that dress’s zipper was falling apart, too. So, we bought it after getting the OK from my boyfriend and got an extra 10 percent off. My mom applied for a card there, too, with another 15 percent off. Even though 25 percent off is good, we ended up paying more for this short Homecoming dress than I did on my Junior Prom dress.
