 The Warrior Soccer team had a good start to the second half of its season last Tuesday. Having played Luther Prep once earlier in the season and winning 3-0 the focus was on not overlooking the opponents.
Paul Baumgartner opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a one on one goal with the goalie. He was assisted by Derek Ellwein. Five minutes later, Alex Vater put another one past the Prep goalie. The Warriors went in to the half with a 2-0 lead.
Halfway through the second half, Blake Samanas received a cross pass and put it in the net. Late in the game LPS had its chance to get back in the game with a penalty kick after a holding call in the box.
Paul Berg stared down the Luther Prep shooter and dove for a save to keep the Warriors up by 3. Paul Berg and Isaiah Krause split five saves on the game, and the Warriors outshot the Phoenix 19-9.
Saturday morning the LLHS soccer team will be in Belleville at 10:00 a.m.
