The Madison East JV basketball team has been having an excellent season. They have compiled an impressive 13-2 record, in the tough Big Eight conference. From my experience around the team the success on the court also is translating off it as well the team. Grades, a major issue for any high school team, has not been a factor for any notable players because of the way the coaching staff stresses school first, all the time. The future of East Basketball looks very bright because of this team.

The Purgolders work with about an eight-rotation. The Offence flows though Point guard Nimrod “Nimmy” Hilliard, with Marcel Terry and DeAndre “Skinny D” Galligan being pure scorers, Drew Mcadams providing a little bit of everything, and with Nick “Big Nick” Sampson providing a big post presence, subs Kedrick Fowler, Tyler Kubicheck and Steve Horn are solid when called upon. All of the players have come together to form the 13-2 team that sits on top the Big Eight Conference. I recently had a chance to have a sit-down interview before there 76-72 victory over Sun Prairie, with Marcel Terry who has compiled an impressive 258 points this season. I started off asking Marcel “what does your team do best?” to which he responded, “We run the floor well because of are conditioning and attack the boards. My second question, a more personal one, asked if the team was close and he responded “we like to fool around a lot and have fun but then were serious when it’s close to game time”. Marcel is just one of the key pieces to the overall team which is dominating the conference.

If the East JV basketball team keeps blazing through the conference as they have, it is without a doubt they will have best record in the conference for the whole year. With upcoming games against Lafollette, Janesville Craig and Middleton, the schedule does not get any easier but if the Purgolder’s keep playing with same aggression, tenacity and hustle, not one team in the league will be able to keep up. The East Boys JV basketball team plays with poise, speed and intelligence unmatched by any team in the Big Eight conference and they have deservedly earned there spot on top.
