Thursday was a good day for the purgolders boy’s basketball team. Led by sophomore phenom Marquis Mason and senior captain Al Mayne, the purgolders edged the cardinals in a Big Eight Conference showdown. East jumped out to a 24-5 first quarter lead and never looked back from there. After Al Mayne hit two big three point shots, the cardinals had a tough time matching the tempo of the purgolders. Sun Prairie made a nice third quarter run, but was stopped short by a stellar East defense. While under a 6 game losing streak, Mason and the boy’s snapped it with a 73-56 win over the Cardinals from Sun Prairie.

Mason 21pts; Mayne 18pts; Avelleyra 12pts; Johnson 10pts; Schuler 5pts; Hetzel 4pts; Bartelt 3pts.
