Panther Grapplers take 3rd at Portage

The temperatures may have been below zero on Saturday, January 19th, but the wrestling action was heating up in Portage. The Panthers took 3rd out of 8 competing teams, losing to Wausau West and Lodi.
The wrestlers beat Edgar 54-21 in the first round, then beat Portage 53-15. In the pool championship a closely contested dual was lost in the last match to Lodi, 39-34. Lodi is currently the #3 ranked team in Division 2. In the first round of pool crossover action, Division 1's #1 ranked team, Wausau West, spanked Iowa-Grant 56-6. The Panthers came back to beat Verona for the 3rd place dual, 48-30.
Tuesday the wrestlers beat Viroqua 39-14 and take on Darlington for the final home dual and parents' night on Friday, January 25th.
