FOX47 NEWS - Elver Park Will Host Fireworks on the 4th
Some cities are struggling to pay for fireworks shows this year - but here in Madison we get to enjoy two of them.
Rhythm and Booms is in the can, and the sparks and colors will be exploding over Elver Park on Friday.
For the second year in a row, Mid-West Family Broadcasting saved the pyrotechnic display from cancellation, after former sponsor Clear Cchannel backed out last year.
People with Mid-West say this year is especially important to celebrate the country's independence.
Flooding, natural disasters, you've got gas prices up, families aren't vacationing like they used to--to get a whole group of people, an entire community together, to have fun and enjoy themselves--that's what we're looking forward to most, says Q106 Program Director Brad Austin.
Mid-West and its sponsors are spending $78,000 to fund the party in Elver Park.
Like gas and corn, firework prices are up this year due to a warehouse explosion in China back in February. It's really crimped supply around the country.
This is the only public fireworks show in Madison happening on the Fourth of July.
One traffic note...Mckenna Boulevard and Gammon Road will be closed when the fireworks go off.
