MADISON (WMSN) -- Going to the dentist may not be at the top of your list of things you enjoy.

But one Madison doctor is trying to make it that way for kids.

Lucas and Emma Kostecki are showing what it takes to keep their teeth healthy.

"Brush twice a day and keep your teeth clean," said Emma Kostecki, 9-years-old.

They're learning this from their dentist - whose goal is for families to take care of their child's teeth starting at birth.

"I questioned bringing them at such an early age but I think it was the right choice," said Julie Kostecki, Madison Resident.

Doctor Kieth Dobracki agrees, he tries to keep that phobia from entering his office.

"There's a lot we teach the mom about what healthy gums look like versus what not healthy gums look like how to treat teeth when they come in," said Dr. Keith Dobracki.

They also let parents know how important it is to monitor your child's baby teeth.

"Getting cavities in baby teeth makes you three times more suceptible to getting cavities in adult teeth and baby teeth make space for adult teeth," said Dr. Dobracki.

The doctor says what most parents don't realize is that dental health is one of the leading causes of why children miss school.

"When children have cavities in the front of the mouth they might become self-concious," said Dr. Dobracki.

The doctor's hope is to let every child be proud of their smile - and to have no fear.

"It's important to keep your teeth healthy because you can eat what you want and when you get older you don't have to wear dentures," said Lucas Kostacki, 12-years-old.

The dentist is offering a free dentist visit for any child under three years old for their first visit, for the next three months.
