FOX 47 - Health News

MADISON (WMSN) -- Wim Vandenberg is a survivor, times two. He beat testicular cancer as a teen, and more recently beat one of the deadliest forms of cancer - pancreatic cancer.

More than a year ago, he headed to the doctor complaining of severe back pain and indigestion.

Tests confirmed he had pancreatic cancer.

Morre than 43,000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year. Ninety-four percent die within 5 years, often because pancreatic cancer can be difficult to diagnose.

Wim had surgery to remove his stomach and many digestive organs, followed by seven months of chemotherapy, and so far he is winning the fight against the disease.

Wim and his wife are advocates for pancreatic cancer survival. They traveled to Washington D.C. this year, to raise awareness and call for more funding and research.
