VERONA (WMSN) -- A registered dietitian showing children how to brighten their food for better health. It's in effort to get more kids to eat their fruits and vegetables.

Fox 47 News ventured out to a home in Verona - where the dietitian was showing a group of children how to do this, by making rainbow pizza.

"It's really healthy for you cause you can get into shape and wont get diabetes or heart disease you'll be really healthy as life goes on," said 4th grader Evan Schmidt.

"Most of our Vitamin A and Vitamin C are what we get from our really colorful foods so that's why it's important to eat all of this," Registered Dietitian Jennifer Smith told the group of children.

One of the most important messages the registered dietitian tells children - is to try and incorporate at least 3 different colors into every meal you eat.

"Because that's what's better for you than chocolate cause the dull colors ardent as good for you," said Kate Veak, 4th grader.

"Fiber can be found in vegetables and its better to have rainbow colored food to eat," said Hanah Pierce, 4th Grader.

Just keeping your eye out for the brightest colors, can make you and your family more healthy.

"You have to make it interactive cause kids - they lead by example," said Smith.
