Madison- It's not every day that a Wisconsin athletic program gets the #1 player in the country.  But the Badger volleyball team did, and everyone's excited about it.  Aurora, IL native Lauren Carlini was the top high school player in the nation, and she chose UW over everybody else.  She committed to Wisconsin when she was a freshman, and kept her commitment despite this offseason's coaching change.  Carlini says she always wanted to be a Badger.

"After I saw Kelly and the way his coaching techniques were and what he had done at Dayton I talked to him a few times and it was just a perfect fit. This place has so much history and I think its just a great place to play and the fans are awesome and they have stayed supportive throughout all these years ... I dont put any extra pressure on myselt, I just love playing volleyball."

New UW head coach Kelly Sheffield hopes Carlini can help kick-start the Badger program.

"She said to me, hey I am all the way in dont you worry about me this is the school I love and we are going to turn this place around together."
