Nagged by a thumb injury, Braun put up career-low numbers (for a full season) with a .266 average, 19 homers, and 81 RBI in 2014. The former NL MVP was all smiles this weekend, saying that his healing right thumb feels okay, and it might even be ahead of

"I started hitting a little earlier than I usually do  just to see how it felt-- so far so good-it feels really good.  I know it's significantly better than where it was last year at this time which I'm encouraged by, but as I said to you guys last time I saw everybody. I think the real test will come in spring training once we've played games for a couple weeks and just kind of that every day wear and tear how it recovers, see how it responds."
