FOX 47 - Sports

Waunakee, WI- Waunakee head football coach Pat Rice knows a little something about winning.  Since he took over the program 22 years ago, the Warriors have a record of 224-30.

Rice's teams have won five state titles in eight championship game appearances.  That tradition has earned Rice a spot in the Wisconsin Football Coaches' Association Hall of Fame.  He'll be inducted this spring.  While he's honored to receive such a big award- Rice didn't know he could get in the Hall so soon.

"I always thought you had to be retired or dead.  But fortunately I wass selected.  It's kind of a statement to all of our assistants and players.  We look at it as more of a program thing.  I am honored to represent Waunakeeand all the great teams we've had and get inducted into the Hall of Fame. It'll be fun."

Rice rewarded for excellence
