Madison- Wisconsin's second public scrimmage is in the books, and this time around it was a much better showing for the Wisconsin offense.  Unable to move the ball a week ago, Gary Andersen's first-string offense looked more polished and more relaxed during the latest round of live-action.

The quarterback battle looks like it's down to Joel Stave vs. Curt Phillips.  Transfer QB Tanner McEvoy struggled in the early going, and appears to be on the outside looking in.  But overall, Andersen is happy with where the team is at- with less than two weeks until the season opener vs. UMass (Aug. 31).

Coach Andersen was talking quarterbacks after Monday's scrimmage.

"I thought the ability to throw the ball down the field was improved. We'll take a long had look at the scrimmage, really the last week or so. We'll continue to evaluate and get closer to figuring out who that guy's gonna be. We're in a good spot. We have three young men that want to compete at a high level and all want to start. So it's gonna be really hard for two of them, and it's gonna be great for the other one, and away we go."
