LA CROSSE, Wis. - Residents in all 72 Wisconsin counties got a chance to vote on outdoor-related issues at local meetings this week.

The annual meeting of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress was held Monday at 7 p.m. Locations are listed online.

Attendees weighed in on issues ranging from allowing the hunting of tundra swans and hunting white and albino swans.

The chairman of WCC La Crosse County is Marc Schultz. He said tundra swans wouldn't be easy to hunt because they tend to congregate in areas closed to hunting.

But conservation groups still don't like the idea. They worry that hunters will mistakenly shoot at once-endangered trumpeter swans instead.

Another proposal shaping up to be controversial is a rule that would allow hunters to retrieve hound dogs on private property without landowner permission.
