MADISON, Wis. - More than half of the counties in Wisconsin's 6th Congressional District have turned in their results from the Republican primary, and no big differences have shown up yet when compared to the unofficial results.
Counties have until Friday to report their results to the Government Accountability Board, which oversees Wisconsin elections.
But the GAB asked counties with close primaries to turn their results in Tuesday so that work could begin quickly on recounts if candidates request them. There are no automatic recounts in Wisconsin.
The results turned in by seven of 11 counties in the 6th District show no big differences from unofficial tallies. State Sen. Glenn Grothman has picked up six votes, while state Sen. Joe Leibham has lost one. Unofficial tallies had them 214 votes apart.
