MADISON- Fans were on the edge of the seats up until the last seconds of the Saturday night's game. But the night turned out to be a disappointment for Badgers fans, who were hopping to see the team move on to play in Monday night's title game. Mobs of people formed at downtown Madison bars in the early hours of the afternoon before the start of the game.

A number of hopeful fans were left standing in lines, some waiting for over two and a half hours to get a chance to watch the Badgers play in the Final Four for the third time in school history.

Badgers fans walked State Street with heavy hearts after Saturday night's one point loss to Kentucky, disappointed but not defeated.

"We can't be mad about it, we had a good season. So that's all that matters," said fan Shiloh Weber.

City and University Police increased security last night from the previous weekends Elite Eight game, with additional officers on scene and mounted patrols.

Public Information Officer, Marc Lovicott, said the department was happy with the outcome, despite a handful of reported disturbances.

"There were a number of individuals who started some small fires. We had a few people who were cited for fighting, some body passing issue, mosh pit type activities.

We anticipated things like that. We wish they were a little bit more responsible fans...but we understand, we are all disappointed."
