MADSION- County officials released new numbers on the total amount with damage with the cost now topping $15 million dollars in Dane county.  More than 250 homes, along with several businesses and public buildings were damaged by multiple tornadoes, strong winds and a down pouring of rain.

A state of emergency was declared for Dane county Tuesday following the first round of storms.  Today the county submitted estimates to the state, which will decide whether to apply for federal aid.

"What ends up happening if you get up to FEMA is they'll cover the uninsured parts, but hopefully most of this will be covered by insurance,” said Joe Parisi, Dane County Executive. “The vast majority was private damage, about 10 and a half million dollars, about 4 and a half million dollars was public building damage, about 4 million of that was the school in Verona."

The decision by the state to apply for FEMA aid is expected at any moment.
