The email said the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction requires schools to meet statewide standards for number of days and hours of teaching during a school year.
According to the email, afternoon sessions of four-year-old kindergarten will add six minutes to the end of each day, and morning sessions will add one additional session on June 12.
All elementary schools in Madison will add six minutes to the end of each school day starting Monday, according to the release. Early-start schools will dismiss at 2:38 p.m. (1:06 p.m. on Mondays), and late-start schools will dismiss at 3:23 p.m. (1:51 p.m. on Mondays). The last day of school (June 12) will be a full day.
There will be no changes to middle school schedules, officials said.
La Follette High School will add four minutes to the beginning and end of the school day, so regular days will run from 8:16 a.m. to 3:34 p.m., according to the release. The last day of school will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. No other high schools will have scheduling changes.
