MADISON, Wis. - Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the southeast area of Lake Monona early Saturday.

Lt. Tim Schuetz said deputies responded to a report of a body  found in the Yahara River near Squaw Bay at 3:08 a.m.

The nude body of an adult male was found near Bridge Road in the City of Monona, Schuetz said.

Fishermen found the body and reported it, according to the sheriff's office.

Schuetz said the agency is conducting a death investigation but the death doesn't appear suspicious.

"We don't have any reason to believe it is (suspicious) at this time," he said.

Schuetz said authorities are interested in any clothing that is found in the area, specifically black athletic shorts, a gray T-shirt, and black flip flops.  Anyone who comes across these items are asked to call the Dane County Sheriff's officer in charge at 608-284-6155.

He said a description of specific items would be released later.

The medical examiner is working to confirm the man's identity and a cause of death, Schuetz said.
