MADISON- March Madness is the only way to describe the energy on State Street Saturday night. Badgers fans waited for more than a decade for this celebration.

An estimated 10,000 fans took over State Street just minutes after Wisconsin conquered Arizona, 64 - 63.

Fans celebrated for hours after the game with music and dancing in the streets, some even climbed buildings and trees in excitement.

For fans who remember the last time the badgers made it to the final four in 2000...they say it was a long time coming.

"Going back to the final four after 14 years, and we don’t get there that often. Its Bo's first trip. It was just a great night,” a fan said.

Madison police said fans were well behaved.with no reported injuries or arrests. City and UW Police beefed up patrols with assistance from 6 other agencies. Law enforcement are now working with the city to discuss additional ways to prepare for next week’s final four,.

"The students were really exuberant, it’s what we want to see,” said Susan Riseling, UW Chief of Police. “I think that for next week we will plan a little bit differently. We will be prepared...we want people to celebrate and have a good time we just want them to be safe."

The celebration continues into next week when the Badgers head to Dallas.  The university will start selling tickets Monday. The first 700 students will receive reserved seats, all other tickets are standing -room only.
