MADISON- A day after storms caused damage in some southwestern Wisconsin counties, more storms are expected to develop, according to the News 3 Weather Center.

A tornado watch has been issued for Dane, Grant, Green, Iowa, Lafayette and Rock counties until 7 p.m.

Meteorologist Haddie McLean said sunshine and very muggy conditions this afternoon will lead to a very unstable atmosphere in southern Wisconsin.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon. There is a moderate risk for severe storms across southern  Wisconsin, south of a line from Viroqua to Fond du Lac. The rest of the area is in a slight risk for severe storms.

The main threats will be damaging winds and tornadoes, but heavy rainfall and large hail will also be possible.

The severe weather threat will come to an end as a cold front moves through the region, most likely by midnight.

Tornadoes, winds expected for Monday
