AFTON,Wis. - A slow-no-wake has been declared on the Rock River, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Department.

The water level in Afton has reached more than 6.67 feet, according to U.S. Geological Survey Guages. Rock County requires a slow-no-wake restriction to be placed on the Rock River when water levels go above 6.5 feet in Afton.

The water level on Lake Koshkonong is 8.17 feet, and county ordinance requires a slow-no-wake restriction to be placed on the Rock River when water levels exceed 8 feet on Lake Koshkonong, according to a release.

Rock County Deputies will place slow-no-wake signs along the river at all public access points between the north Rock County line (Newville) and Townline Road Bridge.

County ordinance requires a slow-no-wake restriction on any portion of the Rock River downstream from the Townline Road Bridge to the southern Rock County line when the water levels exceed 8.5 feet, officials said. Since the water has not exceeded 8.5 feet, there is no speed restriction south of the Townline Road Bridge or on Lake Koshkonong.

UPDATE: Slow-no-wake declared on Rock River
