LANCASTER, Wis. - A published report said investigators with the Grant County Sheriff's Office found a “possible suicide note” at a home where three people were found shot in the head in Monfort last Friday, but the sheriff said that report is false.
According to the Wisconsin State Journal, a search warrant said a note was found at the home where Morgan Slaight and her two sons, Joseph and Jaxon, were found shot in the head.
Sheriff Nate Dreckman released a statement Wednesday saying the report is inaccurate. He said the application for the search warrant mentioned a suicide note, but no note was found.
Jaxon Slaight died Friday. Dreckman said 27-year-old Morgan Slaight and her son, Joseph, remain at University Hospital where a spokeswoman declined to give any information about the two.
Dreckman said Slaight and two of her children had been living with her sister in Monfort. The sheriff said she is estranged from her husband, who is living in Oklahoma.
Dreckman said Wednesday the case continues to be investigated as a homicide. He said there's no update on the conditions of Morgan and Joseph Slaight.
