MADISON- This cold closed many schools in Wisconsin Wednesday. Eight schools canceled or delayed classes Thursday.

However, Madison's schools were not among the districts deciding to close for the day. District officials said their general rule to call off school is if the National Weather Service issued a wind chill warning. They do however, hold classes if it's just an advisory like it was today.

“As long as our buses can operate safely as long as our buildings are in good condition then we're likely to stay open,” said Mike Barry, Asst. Superintendent for Business Services, Madison Metropolitan School District.

There weren't any delays or closures so far this year in Madison. The district will notify parents online and you can also sign up for text alerts.
