MADISON, Wis. - Two meetings are scheduled this week to discuss a planning study for the Interstate 39/90/94 corridor in Dane and Columbia counties, according to a Department of Transportation release.

The meetings are part of the National Environmental Protection Act process to identify and evaluate potential strategies and mobility issues on the interstate between Highway 12/18 and Interstate 39 south of Portage, officials said.

A recent traffic impact analysis documented deficiencies associated with that part of the interstate, according to the release. The study will analyze the deficiencies, gather crash and traffic date and identify cultural and natural resources.

A draft environmental statement is expected in 2017, but there is not construction planned at this time, officials said.

The meeting in Madison will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Herzing College, room 106, at 5218 E. Terrace Drive. The meeting in Lodi will be held on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. in the Lodi Elementary School at 101 School St.
