DEFOREST, Wis - A DeForest man not breathing was revived by Dane County Sheriff’s deputies when he lapsed into unconsciousness at a restaurant Monday afternoon.

Deputies were called to Club 51 at 7123 U.S. Highway 51 in the village of DeForest at 3:30 p.m. on a report of an unconscious man.

Deputy Brad Schroeder and his patrol trainee, Deputy Gerald King, found Alvin M. Cameron, 63, lying on the floor near the bar area, being attended to by other restaurant patrons. The deputies began chest compressions and used their automated external defibrillator to revive Cameron, who had no pulse. He was taken by ambulance to Meriter Hospital.

Schroeder and King will be nominated to receive lifesaving pins at the Dane County Sheriff’s Office annual awards ceremony this spring.

King has been with the sheriff’s office since 2001, and Schroeder has been a deputy sheriff since 2000.
