MADISON, Wis. - The Dane County Regional Airport will be making improvements and additions thanks to funding from the state, county and Federal Aviation Administration, according to a release.

Gov. Scott Walker announced Thursday the airport will receive $5.56 million for taxiway improvement and a de-icing ramp with pump station.

Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials said the upgrade will improve safety operations by keeping aircraft off active runways when traversing the airport.

The state and county will both provide $280,000 of the funding, and the FAA will provide the rest.

The project is scheduled to start this spring and should be completed by fall.
