MONONA, Wis. - A suspected robber was in custody Tuesday morning after police said a police dog team tracked him down shortly after the alleged incident in Monona.

Monona Police Chief Walter Ostrenga said the department responded to a report of a robber at the Anchor Bank at 6501 Monona Drive at 8:34 a.m. The robber implied he had a gun but none was displayed.

Dane County Sheriff's deputies, Monona police, Madison police responded along with K-9 Krahnie and his partner Officer Jim Donnell to track the suspect.

Police received a description of the robber, who was seen fleeing the bank on foot running south across Highway 12, according to the report.

Police said the K-9 team was able to track the suspected robber in the marsh south of Highway 12. Krahnie picked up the suspect's scent and found him hiding in the brush. Monona police said 30-year-old Corey O. Collier, of Chicago, was taken into custody Tuesday on a charge of robbery of a financial institution while armed.

Police said a booking photo of Collier was not available Tuesday afternoon. Monona PD provided an image from Anchor Bank surveillance footage of the robbery.

Ostrenga said there are not believed to be other individuals involved and there is no further risk to the public.

Police said there were no reports of injuries at the bank.
