VERONA, Wis. - Epic in Verona will provide electronic health record services for Mayo Clinic, according to an announcement from the health system.
Mayo currently uses three health record systems. Epic will be the single provider going forward.
“We’re confident in choosing Epic as our strategic partner as we continue to enhance Mayo Clinic’s excellence in health care and medical innovation,” said John Noseworthy, M.D., Mayo Clinic president and CEO in the release.
The system will be built in 2015 and 2016, with implementation planned to begin in 2017. More than 45,000 staff will be trained on using the Epic system.
The agreement with Epic is still subject to final approval by the Mayo Clinic Board of Governors and Board of Trustees.
Contract terms were not disclosed in the release.
Mayo has locations in Minnesota, Arizona and Florida.
