MADISON (WMSN) -- Madison Police confirm an Officer was involved in a fatal shooting.



The incident started around 4:45 p.m. Police were responding to a call of an armed robbery at Cousins Subs on Park Street. An officer spotted a person who fit the description of the subject and gave chase.



Police Chief Noble Wray says on Whittier Drive, in a residential neighborhood, the suspect displayed a weapon, and the Officer used deadly force.



Brian Rodriguez spoke with one eyewitness who said he heard three or four gunshots, then saw a male officer, shaken and with blood on his hands.



That officer is on administrative leave pending an investigation, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
