MADISON (WMSN) -- The governor's state of emergency is still in effect, but officials are dialing-back and returning to regular staffing.

Not a single city, county, or town asked for state help during the blizzard, so the Wisconsin Emergency Operations Center and many state agencies are starting to return to regular staffing and hours.

But they're warning people - this does not mean the danger is over.

"Roads may be plowed, but there is a sheen of ice on the roads. People need to continue to drive carefully and slowly," said Mike Goetzman, spokesperson. "It's tough to defy the laws of physics. If you have a 2,000 pound vehicle on slippery roads that can lead to bad things if you go too fast."

The National Guard has heavy duty vehicles with chains on standby until 6 p.m. Thursday.
