MADISON (WMSN) -- Some significant changes are coming to Wisconsin over the next year.

The statewide smoking ban takes effect in July, making Wisconsin one of 25 states that ban smoking.

Voters will elect a new governor in November. Gov. Jim Doyle, a Democrat, announced plans not to run again in August.

Voters will also voice their opinion on whether to create a Regional Transit Authority that would give the agency power to plan transportation services.

In February, new credit card laws take effect that regulate how banks and card issuers can notify you about interest rate changes.

The Overture Center will also try to turn around its fortunes with The Lion King.
