MIDDLETON (WMSN) -- Even if these tough economic times, many people are finding the money to spend on elective cosmetic procedures.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 12.5 million people had some type of cosmetic procedure last year, from botox to breast augmentation.

A new survey finds 80% of women age 18-54 say they would have cosmetic surgery if money were no object.

Sarah Payner, 48, recently decided to undergo a full facelift and eyelid surgery. She says she wanted to look as young as she feels.

Dr. Richard Parfitt of Middleton says his typical patient is about 50 years old, and says the same thing - their face no longer matches how they feel.

He says when choosing a plastic surgeon, always find someone who SPECIALIZES in the precise surgery you are looking for. "Plastic surgeon" or "cosmetic surgeon" he says, is not specific enough. Then, ask to see at least 20 before and after photos. A good surgeon should not hesitate to show you.

Dr. Parfitt performed Paynter's surgery. Four weeks after she went under the knide, she told us, she's thrilled. "I feel like I look like me, only better."Fox 47 Special Report: New Phase, New Face
