MADISON- The WIAA Boys Basketball Tournament is
going on at the Kohl Center this week, bringing thousands of people to Madison.

The Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau
said the event makes a $6 million dollar impact on the local economy.  That's good news for local businesses.

"It's a great way for the fans to
not only come to the Kohl Center and experience all that goes on there, but all
throughout the community, state street, the malls, the entire community sees an
impact from the WIAA,” said Kate Dale, Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau,
Sports Marketing Manager.

The bureau said they prepared for
months to handle the increase of visitors. The state tournament kicked off this
afternoon with the championship games Saturday night.
