Scholastic Arts Spotlight UW Platteville

MIDDLETON (WMSN) - Middleton High School student Matthew Hunt is the student selected to be featured in the Scholastic Arts Spotlight for April.

Matt has the talent trifecta - he can dance, sing and act, and he hasn't been doing any of them for very long.

Matt's been singing for several years, but only started acting a couple years ago. He was cast in a small role in a local production of "Footloose", and he was hooked.

Matt's favorite art right now though, is dance. He says it really allows him to express himself.

Matt's mother says it's amazing to see her son on stage, singing, dancing and acting, because as a young child, communicating was not his strength, in fact, at age three he had trouble recognizing a question. Matt received speech therapy, which he credits with helping him reach his goals of today.

You can see Matt in Middleton High School's production of "Alice in Wonderland" April 30 and May 1. He plays the turtle. Drama teacher Lynda Sharpe says Matt has incredible talent. "As the turtle, he makes you see the shell!" Matthew Hunt - Scholastic Arts Spotlight, April 2010
